Job Description

The successful candidate will be tasked to work with subject matter experts (SMEs) based in specific program areas in research with the purpose of maintaining the Models, Methods and Tools (MMTs) toolkit of advisory service. The candidate will be able to manage the majority of work on their own, with minimal involvement from the SMEs.

The selected candidate will deliver projects to clients under the supervision of the Director; contribute to the development of analysis by conducting quantitative and econometric analysis, writing reports and delivering presentations on projects.

Required qualifications

  • Min 12 years’ experience in econometrics, applied economics, macroeconomics or energy economics gained either in a consultancy environment, government department or research organization
  • A postgraduate degree in economics, econometrics, statistics or a related discipline
  • Familiarity and experience in using specialist analytical software packages such as Eviews, SPSS, R, SAS and Stata, and more general packages such as MS Excel
  • Familiarity with professional energy sector model and tools desired
  • High energy individual possessing excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Generating analysis and insight: executing rigorous and insightful analysis to build an evidence base to support strategy and policy development and change;
  • Applying economic thinking and analysis: deploying a range of economic tools, skills and frameworks that can be brought to bear on new client problems;
  • Team management: managing and supporting junior resources in order to ensure successful project delivery;
  • Relationship management: working closely with clients and third parties (e.g., academics and researchers) to develop strong professional relationships;
  • Continuous learning: proactively developing your own skills, seeking feedback, building knowledge, and sharing your insight with colleagues.
