Job Description

KAPSARC seeks a macroeconomist (or an energy economist with a solid understanding of macroeconomics) with strong skills in econometrics to conduct applied research and consulting activities on energy-related economic issues. In particular, the applicant will contribute to the development and customization of macro-econometric models that serve the needs of Saudi Arabia’s energy sector.

Required qualifications

  • A Ph.D. degree in the field of macroeconomics, energy economics, or applied econometrics
  • Solid quantitative skills and analytical capability in econometrics
  • Ability to develop macro-econometric models to be used for policymaking
  • A proven track record of publications in journals in economics
  • Consulting experience in the field of macro or energy economics would be a plus
  • Ability to work both as a part of a team and independently
  • Ability to communicate research insights to technical and non-technical audiences
  • High level of proficiency in English
  • The successful candidate is expected to:
  • Develop research projects and proposals
  • Improve, update and develop models
  • Build and analyze economic scenarios
  • Draft research papers and timely briefs on relevant topics
  • Contribute to KAPSARC consulting activities
  • Respond in a timely matter to ad hoc requests
  • Deliver effective presentations at conferences and workshops
  • Mentor junior researchers
    The candidate will also be encouraged to publish the outcomes of the research projects in peer-reviewed journals.
