This course examines:

1. The drivers of price fluctuation in the global energy market through an historical overview of changes in that market, with an emphasis on the interaction of economic and political factors and the impact on industry;
2. The particular political economic characteristics of major oil exporting states, with an eye to critically assessing the “resource curse” argument and the impact on business decision-making;
3. Current regulatory challenges for energy exporters and importers (both countries and industrial entities); and
4. The future of energy supply and demand and implications for energy exporters.
