Workshop

The webinar is co-hosted with the Energy Innovation: Policy and Technology LLC organization.

Saudi Arabia has launched the Circular Carbon Economy national program during G20 as a climate change mitigation scheme aimed to reduce, reuse, recycle, and remove the amount of carbon emissions being released into the atmosphere. Monitoring, measuring, and reporting carbon emissions are keys to supporting domestic initiatives to reach their goals to mitigate the future impacts of climate challenges. This workshop emphasizes the importance of data to support domestic policymakers. Speakers will shed light on the last reported national greenhouse gas inventory and discuss varying emissions estimations from other data providers, highlight KAPSARC data portal – environment open data availability and challenges, explore domestic energy policy options that could support the transition to a circular carbon economy and the impact of technologies used in the main sectors on future emissions, demonstrate NEOM’s carbon management project and Climate TRACE (Tracking Real-Time Atmospheric Carbon Emissions) project approaches, and discuss where innovation is needed as the global community moves forward toward a circular carbon economy.
