A Webinar Highlighting the Best Practices of Data, Energy Economics Models Management in Saudi Arabia

Last Monday, October 19, the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) organized the “Energy Economics Open Data Ecosystem, Data Transparency, Policy Scenario Models & Tools” webinar to advance best practices in data, energy economics models management and importance of data publishers to research.

Participants from the General Authority for Statistics, National Data Management Office (SDAIA), along with KAPSARCs’ experts, gathered to discuss data availability, data governance and the dissemination plans of data publishers and data regulators in Saudi Arabia.

The participants focused on the data usability and the best ways to acquire, manage and feed energy economics models that provide valuable insights for policy makers, in addition to the future blueprint of a data ecosystem that provides data access at granular and aggregate levels. The webinar also highlight the role of  Big-Data and why it is important in this age

The number of open-source models and tools developed by KAPSARC  reached more than 20 models, 1,800 databases, and 14 research tools, in order to enhance the energy sector locally and globally, while also enhancing Saudi Arabia’s efforts to diversify energy sources and economic prosperity and achieving Vision 2030 goals.

The workshops held by KAPSARC are an interactive and participatory platform that brings together stakeholders, experts and specialists in energy and economics. The center collaborates with a number of global research centers, public policy organizations, government and industrial institutions to share knowledge, analyses and recommendations aimed at improving the welfare of societies locally and globally.
