KAPSARC and SEC to develop research in energy sector

KAPSARC has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to develop impactful research that will help to improve and optimize the electricity sector in the Kingdom.

This alliance will play a pivotal role in the analysis of the electricity sector in Saudi Arabia, by promoting collaborative research into energy economics, policy, technology, and the environment.

The agreement — which seeks to reinforce the efficiency, stability and reliability of the Saudi power system and optimize energy consumption — was signed by KAPSARC President Adam Sieminski and Saudi Electricity Company CEO Fahad Al-Sudairi at SEC’s headquarters in Riyadh.

The Energy Transitions and Electric Power team at KAPSARC will work closely with SEC’s team on a range of topics covering electricity demand, electricity supply, regional trade, and innovations in electricity markets.

“We are pleased to announce our partnership agreement with SEC, which aligns with KAPSARC’s efforts to contribute to achieving Vision 2030’s strategic objectives for the energy sector. Our research collaboration will ensure that, together, we can help to reshape the Saudi electricity sector and produce impactful research that addresses both the challenges and the opportunities,” said Sieminski.
