The King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) developed three models and tools for the economy and energy system in Saudi Arabia, in its effort to enhance the energy sector locally and globally, enhance Saudi Arabia’s efforts to diversify energy sources and economic prosperity, and achieve Saudi Vision 2030 goals.The center’s researchers have designed the Vision 2030 Dynamic Input-Output Tool, the KAPSARC Energy Model, and the Energy Policy Simulator Tool, in order to enhance the understanding of energy economics and environmental policies. “In order to predict the future of economic and energy issues and face future energy challenges, the number of open-source models and tools reached more than 20 models, 1,800 databases, and 14 research tools,” Dr. Fahad Alturki, VP of Research at KAPSARC, said.Alturki pointed out that the development models and tools have provided the latest data and statistics in a variety of subjects and topics, such as Toolkit for Behavioral Analysis, Building Energy Assessment Tool, Transport Analyses Framework, and Energy Data Portal, as KAPSARC is seeking to contribute to enriching the local and global research industry and support researchers in improving the welfare of societies. He also stated that the center has 10 initiatives and produces six different publications, such as research papers, Instant Insights, Data Sets, Commentaries, peer-reviewed journal articles, and podcasts, to support the global energy sector and help the Kingdom to become less reliant on oil and more diversified in energy resources and revenues.It is noteworthy that KAPSARC seeks to support the local and global research community through a number of tools and open-source data on all topics related to energy, economics, and environment. The center ensures to keep up with the global developments, as it recently launched a database on the impact of the COVID-19 virus on economic and energy indicators locally and globally to highlight the Kingdom’s efforts in addressing the pandemic and ensuring people’s health.KAPSARC seeks to support the local and global research community through a number of tools and open-source data on all topics related to energy, economics, and environment. قام باحثو كابسارك بتصميم (أداة المدخلات والمخرجات لرؤية 2030، ونموذج كابسارك للطاقة، بالإضافة إلى أداة محاكاة سياسة الطاقة)، وذلك لتعزيز فهم اقتصاديات الطاقة والسياسات البيئية، بالإضافة إلى العديد من النماذج والأدوات المفتوحة المصدر في قطاعات الطاقة العالمية المختلفة.
وأوضح د. فهد التركي نائب الرئيس للأبحاث في كابسارك أن عدد النماذج والأدوات مفتوحة المصدر التي صممّها المركز وصل إلى 20 نموذج و1800 قاعدة بيانات و14 أداة بحثية، تستهدف المساعدة على التنبؤ والتصدي لتحديات الطاقة المستقبلية.
كما أشار التركي إلى أن النماذج البحثية التي طورها فريق الخبراء في المركز مزودة بأحدث الإحصائيات والبيانات في مواضيع متنوعة مثل التحليل السلوكي وكفاءة الطاقة والمباني والكهرباء والنقل، إذ يسعى كابسارك ليساهم في إثراء الحركة البحثية المحلية والدولية، ودعم الباحثين على الوصول للتوصيات المناسبة لتحسين جودة حياة المجتمعات.
وذكر التركي أن كابسارك يهدف من خلال مجموعة متنوعة من الإصدارات إلى دعم قطاع الطاقة العالمي ومساعدة المملكة في خطتها المستقبلية القائمة على تقليل الاعتماد على النفط وتنويع مصادر الطاقة والدخل، حيث يمتلك المركز عشر مبادرات ويصدر ست أنواع مختلفة من الأورق البحثية تتمثل في : الدراسات البحثية، رؤية على الأحداث، تعليق بالإضافة إلى تحليلات البيانات والأوراق العلمية المحكمة والبودكاست.
يذكر أن كابسارك يحرص على مواكبة المستجدات العالمية في النماذج والأدوات التي يطورها، حيث أطلق مؤخرا قاعدة بيانات خاصة بتاثير فيروس كوفيد 19 على مؤشرات الاقتصاد والطاقة على المستويين المحلي والعالمي، والتي ساهمت في رصد جميع الإجراءات الوقائية التي اتخذتها حكومة المملكة لمواجهة انتشار الجائحة، وساعدت على تحليل البيانات المتضمنة فيها وتحميلها واختيار أي من التفاصيل التي يرغب الباحثون في استكشافها.
وأعلن المركز في فبرايرالماضي تقدمه في قائمة أفضل مراكز الأبحاث إقليميًّا وعالميًّا، إذ فقز 14 مرتبة في تصنيف مراكز أبحاث الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا؛ ليحتل المرتبة 15 ضمن 103 مركز أبحاث في المنطقة، وعلى المستوى العالمي، احتل المركز المرتبة 13 ضمن 60 مركز أبحاث متخصص في سياسات الطاقة.
