Senior Arabic Editor

Job Description

The copy editor can bring a fresh perspective to evaluate the content in detail and catch any mistakes overlooked by the translator or the author while communicating with the researchers at various stages of the process. Additionally, the editor will ensure all output conforms to the KAPSARC style & editorial policy and validate for consistency with the relevant style manual.

Required qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Arabic language, communications, Translation, Literature, Linguistics or relevant field
At least 5 years of experience copy editing in a similar field
Proven experience in editing academic publications
Bilingual (English, Arabic)
Exceptional attention to detail, grammar and logical story construction
Ability to copyedit and identify and correct inconsistencies and errors

Experience

Proofread translated content for spelling, grammar and punctuation accuracy
Could manage a pool of Arabic freelance editors, if needed
Fluent in Arabic and English
Knowledge of the energy, economics, & policy terminology
Knowledge and expertise in handling Microsoft Office software and other tools as needed
Excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills
Ability to work with internal and external teams and partners
Ability to works under pressure
Independent and self-managed

Read and understand text material and research energy, economics, & policy terminology
Copyedit and find and correct inconsistencies and errors
Ensuring Arabic texts conveys original meaning and tone
Work closely with the authors to truly interpret their content
Ensure the compliance with KAPSARC style and citations guidelines
Coordinate with all writers to ensure every written piece is edited and promptly returned to the original writer for finalization
Follow up with authors and other team members to ensure the editorial process is moving smoothly
