KAPSARC held its third workshop on China’s Energy Economy on April 14-15, 2015 in Hong Kong. This workshop built on the central theme that emerged from the November 2014 Riyadh workshop: To what extent are efficiency measures sufficient to deliver a sustainable energy future for China? The scope of efficiency measures and the opportunities and challenges facing renewables were investigated both theoretically (through economic models and an analysis of policy) and through a series of case studies.
Workshop participants included delegates from the Chinese Academy of Science, Chinese government bodies, industry, as well as universities, NGOs and think tanks. The range of participants encouraged discussion from diverse perspectives ranging from academic research and real world success stories through to the challenges facing industry and local government.
