South Korea’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Joo Hyunghwan, and accompanying delegation, visited the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) today. They were received by the Center’s President, Mr. Nadhmi Al-Nasr, senior managers, and researchers. During the visit, Minister Hyunghwan learned about KAPSARC’s vision and goals, and its development of research into energy economics, policy, technology and the environment, across all types of energy. He also gained an understanding of the range of KAPSARC’s joint international and local projects, especially those related to supporting the National Transformation Program and the Saudi Vision 2030.
During the visit, the bilateral relationship between KAPSARC and Korean research centers, and the benefits of this relationship in facilitating the transfer of energy economics-related knowledge to Saudi Arabia, were discussed. KAPSARC currently works on a number of joint research and study projects with leading Korean institutes. These include a joint research program with the Korean Energy Economics Institute focusing on the security and future of clean energy, and involving several Saudi researchers.
KAPSARC is a global institution dedicated to independent research. The Center has a mandate to advance the understanding of energy challenges and opportunities facing the world, through high-caliber research, for the benefit of all societies, including both exporters and importers of energy.
