The workshop aims to answer key questions surrounding ways of improving the accuracy and transparency of oil production data from monthly OPEC and non-OPEC production assessments, and perhaps incorporating the growing role of alternative data providers. It will seek to address: 1) Are the current methodological approaches to measuring oil production successful, and what challenges and corrections are available to improve the quality of these data? and 2) Is oil production the right metric for characterizing the dynamics of the oil market?
The event will be structured as a moderated round-table discussion, with brief presentations in each session to provoke discussion among a group of respected experts.
