This paper examines whether firms of different sizes benefit differently from the spread of artificial intelligence (AI). Using data on workers and firms in Saudi Arabia, we find that simply being exposed to AI-related technologies is not enough to improve firm performance. Firms facing similar AI-related conditions can experience different outcomes.
