This paper examines the key decisions faced by developers of carbon-financed clean cooking projects seeking accreditation in voluntary carbon markets: which methodology to use for calculating carbon credits, where to register, and what the measurement, reporting, and verification process entails. Using a combined dataset from six voluntary carbon market registries, we find that a large influx of clean cooking credits has coincided with a growing stock of unretired credits and lower market benchmark prices.
