Advances in nuclear energy have renewed interest in applications both within and beyond power generation, presenting opportunities for Saudi Arabia to build a reliable and competitive energy system, decarbonize strategic sectors, and develop clean industries. This paper screens nuclear applications to explore potential near- to medium-term priorities and guide further assessments. It finds that nuclear power is a competitive source of firm, low-carbon electricity, with a levelized cost of around $60/MWh, which is around 30% less costly than solar PV with batteries, depending on the level of reliability, and is increasingly competitive with natural gas generators at gas prices above $6/MMBtu.
