The LNG industry is now facing a cliff. The question is whether it is standing at the bottom or at the top. The sector has now embarked on such an expansion that it is impossible to see how it could emerge unchanged five years from now. The expression ‘the markets are at a turning point’ is used so frequently that it has rather lost its impact. However, the question now is not just one of supply and demand, but also of whether or not the LNG industry’s pricing and contractual frameworks will be fundamentally reconfigured.
