Abstract

Rising ambitions for an energy transition are changing how energy suppliers and consumers think about fuel supply chains. These energy transition ambitions have revitalized interest in alternative energies and technological solutions that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to combat climate change. For example, hydrocarbon producers are considering several technological pathways to decarbonize their oil and gas value chains, including carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) and hydrogen energy. Energy-importing countries are wary of the carbon intensity of fossil fuels and are increasingly taking measures to prevent “carbon leakages.”
