The Public Leadership Executive Program offers mid-career executives the opportunity to embark on a transformational learning journey that uniquely merges the domains of public policy and leadership. This program will help participants to gain a deeper understanding of the public policy making process, frameworks, and tools. It will also help them develop a solid foundation in the management and leadership skills needed to facilitate the formulation and implementation of public policies.

Module 1: Strategy and Policy

Delivered by IMD, at KAPSARC, in Riyadh, KSA

Dates: October 18 – October 20, 2022

  • Explore deliberate and emergent strategy processes
  • Assess important trends impacting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA)
  • Explore key stages of policy formation, development, and evaluation
  • Understand the concept of country competitiveness and analyze the competitiveness of the KSA
  • Assessing the level of digital advancement in the KSA

Module 2: Leading Self, Teams and Organizations

Delivered by IMD, at KAPSARC, in Riyadh, KSA

Dates: December 4 – December 8, 2022

  • Explore how to navigate team dynamics, make decisions, and lead in high-stress situations
  • Explore the effectiveness of your team’s decision-making process
  • Exploring leadership approaches and their impact on team performance
  • Examine how cognitive biases impair decision-making
  • Practice the 10 steps of effective delegation
  • Discuss the elements of emotional intelligence

Module 3: Public Policy Making: Idea to Implementation

Delivered by LKY School of Public Policy, at KAPSARC, in Riyadh, KSA

Dates: January 30 – February 1, 2023

  • Understand the overarching policy cycle framework and the phases of the policymaking process
  • Understand the effectiveness of different policy instruments and tools
  • Identify common gaps and bottlenecks within the policy process
  • Learn how to map, manage, and communicate with different stakeholders at different phases of the policy cycle

Module 4: Strategic Communication in Public Policy

Delivered by LKY School of Public Policy, at KAPSARC, in Riyadh, KSA

Dates: February 27 – March 1, 2023

  • The conceptual foundations of and practical ways to use behavioral insights to communicate policies to the public effectively
  • Communicating through policy memos, lobbying and advocacy, and regulatory agencies

Module 5: Leading Change

Delivered by IMD, at KAPSARC, in Riyadh, KSA

Dates: May 15 – 17, 2023

  • Examine what it takes to drive and make change happen
  • Explore tools to help create authentic an connection and communicate with an audience
  • Examine the strategic, operational and political forces that undermine change programs
  • Use realistic scenarios in crisis management simulations

Capstone Project

  • Participants will be encouraged to utilize what they have learned to work on innovation initiatives.
  • They will be introduced to frameworks and methodologies that will allow them to harness the power of innovation and entrepreneurship to create public good through policies, regulations and public initiatives.

Module 6 option A: Leading Digital Transformation

Delivered by IMD, in Lausanne, Switzerland

Dates: June 12 – June 16, 2023

  • Understand how digital technologies and business models are radically changing competitive dynamics across industries

  • Understand how to become an agile organization
  • Define a plan of action for digitization

Module 6 option B: Orchestrating Winning Performance

Delivered by IMD, in Lausanne, Switzerland

Dates: June 26 – June 30, 2023

  • A custom five-day program guided by the IMD expert faculty for individuals and teams to benefit from the latest insights and applied research
  • Explore ways to grow your business sustainably and inclusively
  • Connect with hundreds of peers and deepen your learning across industries and geographies

Program Certification

  • Participants can choose to complete any number of modules (one or more), and will receive certificates of attendance for each module completed.
  • Participants who complete all five modules delivered at KAPSARC and the capstone project will receive a diploma certified by IMD and KAPSARC. The participants will also become IMD Alumni.
  • If participants wish to undertake additional learning, they can choose one of the two options (A or B) from Module 6, which will take place at IMD Campus in Lausanne, Switzerland. Costs of the program, travel and accommodations to be covered by the participants.

Who Should Attend?

  • The program is designed for mid-level executives including government heads of divisions and mid-level company managers with more than 5 years of experience.
  • Applicants are required to have prior team management responsibilities and strategy implementation planning experience.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required for participation.
  • Availability to attend all registered modules.
