About The Program
The Public Leadership Executive Program offers mid-career executives the opportunity to embark on a transformational learning journey that uniquely merges the domains of public policy and leadership. This program helps participants to gain a deeper understanding of the public policy making process, frameworks, and tools, and develop a solid foundation in the management and leadership skills needed to facilitate the formulation and implementation of public policies.

Module 1: Leading Self, Teams and Organizations

Delivered by IMD, at KAPSARC, in Riyadh, KSA

Dates: October 8 – October 12, 2023

  • Explore how to navigate team dynamics, make decisions, and lead in high-stress situations
  • Explore the effectiveness of your team’s decision-making process
  • Exploring leadership approaches and their impact on team performance
  • Examine how cognitive biases impair decision-making
  • Practice the 10 steps of effective delegation
  • Discuss the elements of emotional intelligence

 

Module 2: Strategy and Policy

Delivered by IMD, at KAPSARC, in Riyadh, KSA

Dates: November 7 – November 9, 2023

  • Explore deliberate and emergent strategy processes
  • Assess important trends impacting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA)
  • Explore key stages of policy formation, development, and evaluation
  • Understand the concept of country competitiveness and analyze the competitiveness of the KSA
  • Assessing the level of digital advancement in the KSA

 

Module 3: Policymaking and Political Communication

Delivered by Hertie School, at KAPSARC, in Riyadh, KSA

Dates: December 3 – December 7, 2023

  • Understanding the value of trust and coordination within government and in international partnerships.
  • Heightened ability to develop strategies for coordination on local, national and international levels.
  • Increased understanding of the public policy development and measurement process.
  • Ability to identify suitable policy instruments and tools, depending on the nature of the policy problem as well as on the government capacity.
  • Advanced understanding of actor constellations, institutions and the broader context within which policies are developed, shaped and implemented by the stakeholders.
  • Understanding how politics and government can control messages of government communications.

 

Module 4: Scenario Planning

Delivered by IMD, at KAPSARC, in Riyadh, KSA

Dates: January 29 – January 31, 2024

  • Improve skills in scenario planning and future-thinking.
  • Gain insights into the drivers that could create future threats and opportunities.
  • Visualize the future and assess how to respond in different situations.
  • Discover what can and must be done to reinforce the organization’s readiness.
  • Learn how to use scenario planning techniques.

 

Module 5: Leading Negotiation

Delivered by IMD, at KAPSARC, in Riyadh, KSA

Dates:  April 22- April 25, 2024

  • Examine what it takes to drive and make change happen
  • Explore tools to help create authentic an connection and communicate with an audience
  • Examine the strategic, operational and political forces that undermine change programs
  • Use realistic scenarios in crisis management simulations

 

Capstone Project

  • Participants will be encouraged to utilize what they have learned to work on innovation initiatives.
  • They will be introduced to frameworks and methodologies that will allow them to harness the power of innovation and entrepreneurship to create public good through policies, regulations and public initiatives.

 

Program Certification

  • Participants can choose to complete any number of modules (one or more), and will receive certificates of attendance for each module completed.
  • If participants wish to undertake additional learning, they can choose to enroll into one of IMD’s Open Enrolment programs, taking place at IMD Campus in Lausanne, Switzerland. Costs of the program, travel and accommodations to be covered by the participants.

Who should attend?

  • The program is designed for mid-level executives including government heads of divisions and mid-level company managers with more than 7 years of experience.
  • Applicants are required to have prior team management responsibilities and strategy implementation planning experience.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required for participation.
  • Availability to attend all registered modules.
