Workshop

Saudi Arabia’s nationally determined contribution to the Paris Agreement put diversification of the Kingdom’s economy and of its fuel mix at the heart of its carbon avoidance measures. In addition, part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 is an ambitious transition toward fulfillment of the Kingdom’s sustainable development goals and a green economy. Significant progress has already been made to remove domestic energy subsidies and align local energy prices with international benchmarks.

This one-day workshop, to be held at the KAPSARC campus in Riyadh, will explore how Saudi Arabia’s economic transformation plans are consistent with the key elements of a national green growth strategy. The workshop will draw on key international experiences, including the United Arab Emirates’ green growth planning and South Korea’s transition to a knowledge-based economy.

The workshop will be structured around four sessions:

  • Economic planning and green growth strategies
  • Financing investment and green growth
  • Employment and green growth
  • Social inclusion and green growth.
