China’s new administration marked its third anniversary three days after KAPSARC’s Reforming China’s Energy Economy workshop held on November 12, 2015.
This administration has voiced its intent to enact sweeping and wide-ranging reforms that will reshape both China’s economy and its society. The workshop picked up on a range of ideas raised in earlier workshops and looked at the reform agenda as it relates to energy, including:
- Is there a consensus in China around the need for energy sector reform?
- What has been successfully reformed so far?
- What still needs to be reformed and what are the goals being sought?
- What are the political hurdles to reform, and can they be navigated?
