Water-Energy Nexus Workshop held in Paris

Water and energy are inextricably linked and so unsound management of either resource can have an impact on the cost, availability and sustainability of the other.

KAPSARC’s Energy for Water workshop in Paris on September 15, 2014 explored the challenges and opportunities countries face when using energy to meet water demand. The workshop addressed topics such as energy for advanced water treatment, water productivity in the agricultural sector, and policy incentives for better water and energy management.

The workshop brought together experts from academia, industry and the policy world. Participants included the World Bank, National University of Singapore, Saline Water Conversion Corporation, OECD, University of Queensland, University of Southern California, International Food Policy Research Institute, International Water Association, and the Stockholm Environmental Institute among others.

The presentations from the workshop will be published by the International Journal of Water Resources Development in 2015.
