Hassan El-Houjeiri

About

Hassan El-Houjeiri is a Principal Fellow in the Climate and Sustainability program at KAPSARC. Hassan brings over a decade of experience at the nexus of energy systems, decarbonization, and climate policy. He has a Ph.D. in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford and a proven track record of developing impactful tools and strategies in both industry and academia. At Stanford, he co-developed OPGEE, a greenhouse gas emissions estimator now widely used in regulatory frameworks. At Shell, he led life cycle analysis and carbon strategy for LNG and refining projects. At Saudi Aramco, he launched the Archie Initiative to enhance global transparency on carbon intensity and published extensively in top-tier journals, including Science, Nature, and Nature Climate Change.
