About

Khaled Alshehri is the Executive Director of Solutions Productization at KAPSARC, the function that converts the Center’s research, models, and data into decision tools for energy policymakers and institutional stakeholders. He leads teams spanning product engineering, product management, library management, and geospatial analysis, managing a portfolio of hundreds of digital products and services. Dr. Alshehri’s areas of expertise and advisory work center on the intersection of AI, digital infrastructure, and energy systems – advising on how emerging technologies, including AI, grid analytics, and data center infrastructure, shape the Kingdom’s energy transition, economic efficiency, and long-term competitiveness. Before joining KAPSARC, he built and led a national-level innovation function spanning emerging technologies, institutional partnerships, and policy development. His work on distributed energy resource aggregation earned the 2024 Questrom-CEMA Best Paper Award, a global recognition in the field. With experience spanning government, academia, and national research, development, and innovation organizations, he brings a systems-level approach to complex energy challenges, drawing on decision science, optimization, and artificial intelligence to build frameworks for senior policymakers and institutional leaders. Dr. Alshehri holds a B.S. in Control and Instrumentation Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
