Geothermal energy offers Saudi Arabia a strategic opportunity to diversify its energy mix, support industrial decarbonization, and leverage the subsurface expertise developed through decades of hydrocarbon exploration, but deployment remains constrained by early-stage geological uncertainty. This paper argues that the main challenge hindering the scale-up of geothermal energy in the Kingdom is not only technological or financial but fundamentally information asymmetry.
