Abstract
Previous recent publications from KAPSARC have explored the possibilities for a global framework for low-emission hydrogen and have identified research priorities. Building on these, this commentary presents key principles of the European Union (EU) hydrogen certification and derives preliminary policy recommendations for Saudi Arabia to develop H2 production from electricity (through electrolysis), in the context of the Kingdom’s ambitious targets for its H2 industry.
