The recent disruption to energy trade through the Strait of Hormuz highlighted both
the importance of resilient energy systems and the ability of global energy markets to adapt to major supply shocks. This paper distinguishes between short-term emergency measures – such as fuel rationing, consumption curtailment, and temporary fiscal support – and longer-term structural responses driven by investment, technological progress, and evolving energy security priorities.
