India’s expanding seaborne trade will increasingly shape regional energy markets, port energy demand, and progress toward the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) decarbonization targets. This study examines how India can align maritime trade and infrastructure growth with long-term climate objectives. It addresses a gap in the literature by integrating non-oil cargo growth, shipping, and port energy demand and emissions across alternative transition pathways.
