Abstract

In an effort to enhance grid stability, support the deployment of renewable energy, and improve overall electricity market performance, the European Union (EU) is preparing to implement a significant change – the introduction of a 15-minute Market Time Unit (MTU) across its interconnected electricity market. This higher temporal resolution will be applied to the Single Day-Ahead Coupling (SDAC) mechanism by June 2025, and it will apply to all bidding zones within SDAC, covering most of Europe (MCSC 2025).
