Saudi Arabia has been adjusting gasoline prices on a quarterly basis since the start of…September 1, 2019
This research program considers how energy prices, economic output, population, energy efficiency and economic structure influence energy demand in Saudi Arabia and how this is likely to evolve.
This project’s goal is to model final energy demand in Saudi Arabia using the structural time series model (STSM), generating multiple elasticities for policymakers. Determining underlying energy demand trends for each sector will reveal how exogenous factors, such as energy efficiency, have influenced energy demand in Saudi Arabia over the last few decades.
The outputs from this project will allow KAPSARC to model how future price reform may influence energy demand.
