With rapid change underway across virtually all areas of energy supply and demand, KAPSARC is pleased to create an opportunity for high-level interaction on these pressing challenges and new opportunities.
Together, policymakers, researchers, practitioners and civil society will help develop and shape energy economics and policy insights that will impact the wellbeing of societies.
The format of the Energy Dialogue – comprising four Plenary Sessions and 12 extended Roundtable Sessions – promotes in-depth discussion with the aim of identifying solutions that can be put forward to the global energy community.
Leading experts have been invited who will bring diverse perspectives to tackle specific challenges that ultimately influence each other, and together will shape the future of the energy sector. Overarching themes include:
■ Geographic shifts in future energy demand and supply.
■ Energy economy developments of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), China and India.
■ How international agreements, including the Paris Agreement, set new standards for a low-carbon future.
■ Strategies to decarbonize electricity and transportation emissions.
■ Technology advances and market innovations that fundamentally alter how energy is produced, distributed and used.
■ The need for new energy policy frameworks and business models.
With a strong focus on strategies for boosting energy productivity, growing demand in China and India, and how the shift to low-carbon energy will influence the energy mix and economic potential of oil-rich countries, the Energy Dialogue seeks to stimulate practical action.
